Rocky Mountain National Park is located in north-central Colorado, just to the west of Estes Park, Colorado. The national park is known for its bighorn sheep, huge herds of elk or wapiti, and its majestic mountains as it sits astride the Continental Divide. Chief among these mountains is its highest, Longs Peak, 14,259 feet above sea level.

Estes Park is a popular resort town, mainly during the summer, though it's also well visited during the other seasons--winter for its snowshoeing and crosscountry skiing, fall for watching the elk rutting season and autumnal colors and spring, well, spring is when life returns to the meadows and the nearby waterfalls break loose from their icy confines.

Barlow Plaza, Estes Park
Along the Riverwalk and the ever-flowing Big Thompson River is Estes Park's Barlow Plaza, home of two of my favorite restaurants, Poppy's and Mama Rose's. Poppy's features burgers, Estes Park's best salad bar, sandwiches, vegetarian & vegan and of course, pizza! Mama Rose's features excellent Italian dining in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Homemade pastas and sauces.
